GVEI’s Khadija Memorial Cricket Cup-2023 resumes after weather delay

Srinagar, Oct 19: The Khadija Memorial Cricket Cup-2023, an inter-school cricket tournament organised by the Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) resumed on Thursday after a temporary hiatus caused by inclement weather.

Enthusiastic teams showcased their sportsmanship in two exciting matches. Two matches were played on Thursday.
In the morning session, IMI Boys faced off against SSM Higher Secondary School. SSM Higher Secondary School won the toss and opted to field. IMI managed to score 76 runs in 15 overs, losing 7 wickets. In response, SSM secured 84 runs for the loss of four wickets, claiming victory by six wickets. The Man of the Match title was bestowed upon Aftab Manzoor of SSM Higher Secondary School.

The second match featured New Convent School taking on Legends School of Education. Legends School of Education won the toss and chose to bat first, posting an impressive 137 runs in 15 overs. New Convent struggled to meet the target, managing only 95 runs in 15 overs while losing 6 wickets. Legends School of Education emerged victorious, and Barik was named the Man of the Match.

The school handout reads that the Khadija Memorial Cricket Cup-2023 will continue to deliver thrilling cricket action on the verdant fields of GVEI.

The tournament’s sponsors, including PepsiCo, Meerz, Uniform Plus, Landmark Stationers, Urbanac, InFocus, and Red FM, have contributed to making this event a sporting spectacle.
