October 24: Delina Champions Trophy finally came to its conclusion today as Challengers Cricket Club Delina defeated KCC Delina in the finals by a huge margin of 104 runs to lift the trophy.
The tournament was organised under the supervision of Delina Cricket Forum in which 12 teams of Delina took part.
In the finals, Challengers batting first posted a healthy total of 166/4 on board in alloted 20 overs courtesy Umair Lateef’s and Mohsin Bashir’s brilliant partnership of 125 runs with the duo scoring 69 and 38 runs respectively. For KCC, Bilal Akbar was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with the figures of 4-1-13-2 while as Adil Hussain also bagged a wicket.
In reply, KCC’s chase was halted early by Lone Akhil who removed the top three batters in his first 2 overs. KCC eventually was bundled out on mere 62 runs thus loosing the match by a mammoth margin of 104 runs. Muntazim Bashir bowled a magical spell of spin bowling as he scalped 4 wickets while as Lone Akhil and Aarif bagged 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Umair Lateef was declared as player of the finals for his brilliant knock while as Rahi Bashir from RCC Delina bagged the player of the tournament award for his all-around throughout the tournament.
The winning team received an amount of rs 8000 while as the runner-ups also were awarded with a cash prize of rs 5000.
Lastly, captain of Challengers, Mr. Showket Hussain Dar dedicated the winning trophy to their teammate Mr. Naseer Ahmad who passed away last year due to sudden cardiac arrest.
