Srinagar, March 12: Thousands of people have been left stranded near Chenani-Nashri tunnel on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as authorities halted the traffic to carry out repairs on the road on Tuesday.
Witnesses said that hundreds of cars carrying families and trucks laden with goods have been stranded at Chenani for over two hours as authorities closed the tunnel.
A traffic police official said that the movement has been halted to carry out repairs on the road at Dalwas where surface condition is very poor.
He said that machinery are working to clear the mud flush from the spot.
Once the surface is made better, traffic will be allowed to ply on the highway, he added. (Agencies)
