Baramulla, June 04: The father of winning jailed leader Er Rashid said it’s not my son’s victory, it’s the people who supported him and made him the winner.
In an interview with Kashmir Despatch, Khazir Mohammad Shohel Er Rashid’s father expressed that the win is not solely his son’s but a triumph for those who stood by and elected him as their representative.
He said that his son is dedicated to serving the people and was initially sent by them to be their voice, despite Er Rashid’s background as an engineer and doctor.
He said that he is grateful for the overwhelming support shown by the people towards his jailed son. He acknowledged their role in his son’s success. He said that the massive support from the public highlighted their love for his son and their desire for him to continue serving Kashmir.
He stressed that while he himself was not inclined towards politics, it was the people who chose and empowered Er Rashid to advocate for the voiceless in Kashmir.
He said he is looking ahead, hoping for his son to be released from jail soon so he could extend his help to the numerous individuals imprisoned across the country.
He hopes that his son’s freedom would enable him to assist those in need and continue serving the people of Kashmir selflessly.
In response to Omar Abdullah, the father of the incarcerated leader commended him for his genuineness and the respect he holds for the value of every vote. He appreciated Omar Abdullah’s understanding of the significance of public support, which played a crucial role in his son’s success. He appealed to the Government of India to expedite the release of his son so that he could return and serve the multitude of people eagerly anticipating his assistance.
