KARGIL, Jul 09: The D5 expedition team of the Indian Army has arrived Kargil as part of a monumental journey, marking the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War of 1999.

This expedition is a tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the soldiers who fought in the conflict.

Led by Captain Gautam, the expedition comprises motorcyclists from the Artillery Regiment. The journey began from three strategic corners of India: Dinjan in the East, Dwarka in the West, and Dhanushkodi in the South.

On June 26, the teams converged in Delhi and continued their journey along two routes toward Dras. One route spanned 1,085 km, passing through Ambala, Amritsar, Jammu, Udhampur, and Srinagar. The second route covered 1,509 km, traveling via Chandimandir, Manali, Sarchu, Nyoma, Tangtse, Leh, and Kargil.

Captain Gautum emphasized the expedition’s goal to highlight the significant contributions of the Kargil War heroes. The journey will culminate at Gun Hill in Dras, a site of strategic importance during the conflict, he said.
