The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated the second special summary revision of photo electoral rolls in all Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, effective July 1, 2024.
The timeline for the publication of the integrated draft electoral roll is set for July 25, 2024. Citizens can file claims and objections from July 25 to August 9, 2024. Special campaign dates are scheduled for July 27-28 and August 3-4, 2024.
According to a notice issued by Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, P K Pole, “The Draft Photo Electoral Rolls 2024 will be available at District Headquarters, Tehsil offices of Srinagar and Jammu, Municipal Corporations/Booth Level Offices at polling station level, and on the website of the CEO, J&K (ceojk.nic.in) for information of all concerned.”
All individuals who are 18 years of age or older on July 1, 2024, are eligible to enroll in the electoral rolls by filing Form 6 for new registrations. Form 7 can be used for objections to proposed inclusions or deletions, Form 8 for corrections, shifting of residence, replacement of EPIC, and marking persons with disabilities, and Form 6B for capturing Aadhaar numbers of existing electors. The Draft Electoral Roll can be downloaded from www.ceo.jk.gov.in and www.ceojk.nic.in.
Claims and objections can be submitted both online and offline. For online submissions, individuals can log on to the Voter’s Service Portal (www.voters.eci.gov.in) or download the Voter Helpline App (VHA). For offline mode, citizens can contact the concerned BLO, AERO, or ERO.
The notice urges all stakeholders to participate in the revision exercise to ensure maximum eligible voters are enrolled. “Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (Migrant) in Delhi, Jammu, and Udhampur will receive claims and objections from Kashmiri migrants within their jurisdiction as per the mentioned schedule,” the notice adds.
