“Democracy Restored,” Says Alka Lamba as Congress Begins Campaign for Assembly Polls

Srinagar, Aug 17: Alka Lamba, President of the All India Mahila Congress, said the announcement of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir is a victory for democracy and the people of the region.

She stated that Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will campaign in Jammu and Kashmir in September.

“It is a victory of democracy. It is a victory for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” She stated, “After a long wait, democracy is being restored here. The people of Jammu and Kashmir will get to choose their own representatives to form the government.”

Lamba added, “Mahila Congress has started its campaign from today. We will try our best to address issues like unemployment, inflation, and poverty.”
When asked about the party’s chances, she replied, “We are hopeful that we will form the government here with full majority.”

Regarding campaign visits, Lamba said, “The Congress president and senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will visit Kashmir for campaigning in September.”

On potential alliances, Lamba stated, “Discussions are being held, and the party will take a decision soon.”

About the change in leadership within the Jammu and Kashmir Congress, Lamba said, “The decision was taken after the top leadership in New Delhi had a discussion with the leaders from the Union Territory.
