BANDIPORA, Sep 09: Nazir Ahmad Khan, the former Deputy Speaker and ex-MLA of Gurez, officially submitted his nomination papers for the 16-Gurez Assembly seat on Monday at the ARO office in Gurez. Addressing his supporters, Khan emphasized his commitment to creating job opportunities for the youth and securing national highway status for the Gurez-Bandipora route.

Khan made it clear that his battle in the upcoming elections is not against a specific opponent in Gurez but against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “The BJP may be in power at the center, but in Gurez, they will face defeat,” Khan asserted.

He highlighted the National Conference’s long-standing efforts for the development of Gurez and vowed to continue these initiatives if elected. “Our party has always worked for the people of Gurez, and we will keep doing so in the future,” Khan told Kashmir Despatch.

When asked about the emergence of new faces in the election race, Khan dismissed the notion that appearances alone would sway voters. “Votes are not cast based on someone’s looks. People vote for those who demonstrate the ability to work and raise their voices for the community,” he remarked.
