Sopore, Sep 11 : Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, the Lok Sabha MP of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, said on Wednesday that Er Rashid’s release will hardly impact the National Conference.
Addressing the media in Sopore, MP Ruhullah as per Kashmir Despatch said that the release of Er Rashid is no surprise for us. The National Conference has its own agenda, its own fight, and its own narrative. If Er Rashid joins the BJP and fights back or pushes back on any issue, it will be an addition to the fight, but it will not impact the National Conference in any way.
MP Ruhulla said that he is concentrating on the National Conference and its performance, unlike other political parties, most of whom have exposed themselves as being a part of the BJP. He said it is not us who have tagged them, but they have exposed themselves by being close to the ministers in the central government and supporting the BJP’s narrative related to Kashmir.
The Srinagar MP Ruhulla said that in the previous elections, the AIP’s (Awami Ittehad Party) appeal was a sympathy wave, and people thought that their vote would open the lock of someone’s jail. But that wave was not for a national purpose, it was not for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It was a sympathy for a particular prisoner, and he respects that sympathy. However, the National Conference has a purpose, and their fight is not for the release of a single prisoner, but for the release of thousands of prisoners who are currently in jail, and for the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been deprived of their rights, their resources, and their future. He said that we are all in a prison this time, and the National Conference is fighting for all to be free from this ordeal.
He said that people had cast sympathy votes earlier, but now they know that the assembly elections are coming up. However, the BJP is trying to divide the people in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the BJP wants to consolidate its support in Jammu, in the Hindu-majority areas, and then try to gain 20-25 seats there. In Kashmir, they want to divide the votes through different parties and make alliances with them. He said that the BJP understands this political game, but he is sure that Kashmir will not allow this division to happen, and the people will wisely cast their votes for a better and brighter future.
