Baramulla, Sep 11: Shiekh Abdul Rashid, the Lok Sabha MP from Baramulla, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, after walking out from jail stated that if he has to stay in Tihar Jail for 100 more years, it is not too expensive for his people who voted for him.
Er Rashid, as per Kashmir Despatch, said that tomorrow he is directly going to Baramulla, catching the first flight in the morning, to meet his people who voted for him and made him the winner.
“I will tell them ‘Er Rashid is present for you, and your servant is ready, and everything is ready for you, for translating your sentiments and feelings for which you have voted for me, even if I have to stay in Tihar Jail for 100 years, it is not too expensive,” he said.
Er Rashid further said that tomorrow he has a request to all his associates and all the people of North Kashmir’s Baramulla that he will meet them face to face, perhaps at the Degree College Baramulla, if permission is granted there, Insha Allah, he will meet his people there at 9:30 AM.
Engineer Rashid, walked out of Tihar Jail on Wednesday after a Delhi court granted him interim bail till October 2. Rashid was incarcerated since 2019 in connection with a terror funding case after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) charged him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Earlier this year, he had contested the Lok Sabha polls from Baramulla and had won after defeating former CM Omar Abdullah. Now, he is set to contest the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, for which the court has granted him bail so that he can campaign.
