Date:

The DC of Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, and the Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Tashi Gyalson, visited the construction site of the new domestic terminal building at the Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport in Leh. The visit was aimed at assessing the advancement of geothermal works and final touches being applied to the terminal.

Abhishek Kumar Singh, AGM, Engineers India Ltd, delivered a presentation during a meeting attended by Vinayaka Moorti, Engineer in-charge at the Airport Authority of India, and representatives from M/s SPCPL.

The new terminal, spanning 23,810 square meters, is designed to handle up to 3.2 million passengers annually. It features comprehensive facilities to manage traffic during peak hours and includes a modern check in counter and security system.

Officials said the reinforced cement concrete (RCC) works have been completed across all floors and AAC (autoclaved aerated concrete) block walls have also been finished. Cable tray installations in these buildings are also complete. In the terminal building itself, the RCC work has been finalised for all levels. Most of the work on interior AAC block is also done, and only some modifications are pending. The work on roof is nearing completion as 95 per cent of the bottom liner sheets has been installed.

Cable trays have been laid in the utility tunnel, which is also finished, and other essential structures, such as the STP have been completed. Excavation work is underway for the city-side terminal building roof.
