Says Will Sleep Peacefully Tonight After 5 Years

Sopore, Sep 20: The Parliamentarian from North Kashmir and Awami Itehad Party (AIP) chief, Shiekh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Er Rashid, stated on Friday that “Today, my 16-year-old political dream has been fulfilled while addressing the people in the Sopore chowk (square).”
Addressing a massive gathering in the historical main chowk in Sopore, Er Rashid as per Kashmir Despatch said, “In my 16 years of politics, in 11 years, there is not a single police station where I have not been beaten up for the sake of the people. I spent 5 years in Tihar Jail, but I had a dream that I would someday come to Sopore Chowk and talk to the people, and that day I would realize that Kashmiris have understood that Er Rashid is ours and he is risking himself for us. He said Today, I am absolutely certain, and there is no doubt about it.
Er Rashid, while addressing a massive gathering of people, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Rahul Gandhi must be watching this live scene from Sopore. He added, “Today, they must have thought that although they buried Geelani Sahab at night, but it will not make any difference, as the voice of truth cannot be suppressed.”
He stated, “The people of Sopore have taken revenge for the day when Geelani Sahab was buried at night. But the voice of truth cannot be silenced. We are not terrorists, we are not miscreants, we are not stone pelters. We only want justice for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We only want the killings in Kashmir to stop, and the Kashmir issue to be resolved.”
He also talked about the Sopore massacre on January 06 and said, “I was on my way to Sopore in a truck, and God knows how I saved my life.” He added, “I do not want to exploit your emotions. My fight is not with the National Conference (NC) or the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but with their mindset, which, out of fear, cannot speak up and forget to raise the issues of Kashmiris when they go to Delhi.”
He further said, “After 5 years, I will have a peaceful sleep tonight after having a glimpse of my Soporians.”
