The strikes were reportedly aimed at Hezbollah sites, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah. Smoke was seen rising over the area as a result of the strikes, which occurred amid increasing military actions in the region.
The Israeli military confirmed the airstrikes, stating they were part of broader efforts to neutralize Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. In addition to the strikes, Israeli authorities issued evacuation orders for certain areas, signaling the intensity of the situation.
These airstrikes come shortly after Iran launched a missile attack on Israel on Tuesday evening. According to Israeli defense officials, approximately 180 missiles were fired, with the majority intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was in retaliation for the deaths of Islamist leaders Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah, and Abbas Nilforoushan.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by warning that Iran would “pay” for the attack. The Israeli military has since carried out ground raids in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah targets, further escalating tensions in the region.
