Srinagar, 17 Oct : Sher–i- Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences celebrates “SKIMS Research Day “.
The event was organized by the Department of Community Medicine and holds a huge significance in the academic calendar of the institute as it provides an opportunity for the medical fraternity of SKIMS & SKIMS Medical College to showcase their cutting-edge research and exchange the scientific knowledge for the optimal patient care.
The event was a huge success with around forty-five oral scientific presentations by the faculty from the diverse disciplines. The day-long event spanned over several parallel scientific sessions comprising of thought-provoking innovative sessions and case reports. The various scientific sessions were presided over by body of distinguished chairpersons which included the senior faculty of SKIMS besides the former Deans & former Heads of SKIMS.
The eminent guests on the occasion were Prof. Kaushal K Verma (Dean Academics AlIMS,
New Delhi) as the Chief Guest; Dr. G N Qazi (CEO HIMSAR, New Delhi)as Guest of Honour.
The inaugural session started with the welcome address delivered by organizing chairperson Prof. Anjum Bashir Fazili who underscored the need for robust research in the field of medicine and highlighted the importance of SKIMS Research Day.
Director SKIMS & EOSG Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie (Chief host) while greeting the guests on the occasion also accentuated the need for quality research as a significant pillar of patient care.
Dean MedicalFaculty, SKIMS, Prof. Shariq R Masoodi (host) reiterated the importance of SKIMS Research Day.
In his inaugural address, Chief Guest Kaushal K Verma admired the role of SKIMS as premiere tertiary care institute of the UT of J&K and highlighted the role of research in contemporary knowledge societies. Guest of Honour, Dr. G N Qazi also acclaimed the sustainable quality patient care services being rendered by SKIMS over decades and expressed his intense desire to enter into a MOU with SKIMS for teaching and research collaborations.
The inaugural session concluded with an extended vote of thanks presented by Prof. Rohul Jabeen Shah, Organizing Secretary of the event.
