SRINAGAR, Nov 07: Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency, stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been left with nothing after being rejected by the people of Kashmir, which is why they are hindering the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
In an interview with Kashmir Despatch, MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone remarked that the BJP’s aspirations of securing 400 seats ended when the residents of Jammu and Kashmir dismissed them, resulting in their current state of desperation.
He expressed disbelief at how someone could enter the assembly and disrupt its proceedings, labeling this behavior as “gundagardi” (hooliganism). He criticized those who employ disruptive tactics, such as wearing slippers and creating chaos in the assembly, stating that he holds no expectations from such individuals.
Lone added that the BJP calls others traitors while forgetting the sacrifices made by Mahatma Gandhi, the Congress party, and leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi for the country’s freedom.
He emphasized that while the BJP speaks of worship and votes, they are the ones offering unsolicited advice on trivial issues. He noted that the real concerns—such as electricity shortages, inflation, and youth unemployment—should have been the focus in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Unfortunately, he argued, the BJP appears to lack concrete plans, which is why they are obstructing the House from functioning.
