Kangan, Nov 11 – MLA Kangan, Mian Mehar Ali, has ordered the withholding of salaries for the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Kangan, the Zonal Medical Officer of PHC Wussan, and the Zonal Medical Officer of NTPHC Chattergul for the month of November due to dereliction of official duties.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that the decision follows a visit to the Primary Health Centre Wussan and New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Chattergul by the MLA. During the visit, it was observed that healthcare facilities in the Kangan sub-division, particularly at the mentioned locations, were lacking basic amenities. These deficiencies included a non-functional labor room, a defunct dental X-ray machine, unhygienic washrooms, a non-operational biochemical analyzer, and the absence of essential medicines such as tetanus vaccinations in Chattergul.
These shortcomings have caused significant distress among the general public, leading to the decision to withhold salaries. Therefore, the salaries of Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Wani, Block Medical Officer Kangan, Zonal Medical Officer PHC Wussan, and Zonal Medical Officer NTPHC Chattergul will be withheld until further orders the official added.
