Srinagar, Nov 18 : Security forces arrested an active terrorist in South Kashmir’s Tral official sources said.
Official sources informed Kashmir Despatch that the newly inducted individual, identified as Irshad Ahmad Chopan, son of Abdul Rehman Chopan from Lurow Tral, was apprehended by a joint team comprising the Army’s 42 RR, Awantipora police, and the CRPF.
According to official sources, during the investigation, it was learned that the recently joined Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit was behind the attack on a non-local resident in Tral.
Officials reported that one pistol, two magazines, and 18 rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession.
A case has been registered in this regard, and further investigations are underway, officials added.
Meanwhile, security forces also uncovered a terrorist hideout in the Keller area of South Kashmir’s Shopian this morning.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that a joint team of security forces, including 44 RR, 2 Rajput, 34 RR, 14 BN CRPF, and Shopian Police, launched a search operation in the forest area of Keller.
He stated that during the search operation, they uncovered a hideout in the Bujbrod Pehlipora forest area. Cooking utensils and edible items were recovered from the hideout. Further investigations are ongoing.
Additionally, a terrorist associate identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat from Naganad DH Pora, Kulgam, was arrested by security forces on Sunday evening at Janbazpora Binner Road in Baramulla district.
An AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and other ammunition were recovered from his possession.
