JAMMU, Feb 1: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday lauded the Union Budget 2025-26, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, calling it a “pragmatic” blueprint for a developed India (Viksit Bharat).
Taking to social media platform X, Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for steering the economy towards rapid growth and introducing bold development initiatives aimed at uplifting the poor, youth, farmers, and women.
“Big Boost for Middle Class”
Highlighting the revised tax rate structure, the LG termed it a “historic move” that would significantly benefit the middle class. He also appreciated the increase in the TDS exemption limit on rent, enhancements in social security, and efforts to formalize the gig economy, providing relief to millions of taxpayers.
Focus on Rural Prosperity and Growth
Sinha underlined the budget’s emphasis on agricultural growth, particularly the Agri District Programme, which he said would translate into rural prosperity and social equity. He noted that India, as the fastest-growing major economy, is set to benefit from increased private sector investments, infrastructure development, and reforms across key sectors.

Calling the budget a catalyst for innovation and job creation, Sinha emphasized its impact on MSMEs, the energy sector, and transformative reforms. He expressed confidence that the policies outlined would drive India towards more inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
