Srinagar, May 23 : Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has said that war is no solution to any issue, emphasizing the need for peace, unity, and the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. As per KNS, the Dy CM remarked that it is vital for the government to listen to every voice from senior officers to grassroots workers.
He stated that during his recent visit to government offices in Jammu, he personally interacted with officers and local workers. “Officers can meet me anytime, but small workers often struggle. I wanted to meet them, listen to their concerns, and convey the message of Omar Abdullah,” he said.
The Dy CM added that the public mandate demands hearing those voices that have remained unheard for the last ten years. Highlighting the cultural gap between regions, he observed, “There was a time when Kashmiris hesitated to go to Jammu and vice versa. I’ve noticed this and directed officers to break this barrier and work together.”
Referring to the recent disturbances along the borders, he expressed grief over the losses suffered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Kashmir Valley. “Our tourism industry suffered, hotels were empty, and transporters faced losses. This should not have happened,” he remarked, as per KNS.
The Deputy Chief Minister firmly rejected the idea of war as a solution. “From 1947 to Kargil, it’s always the border people who have suffered. War benefits no one. A bullet or a drone doesn’t check if it’s Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, or Christian. It harms everyone,” he stated.
Dy CM also criticized those responsible for the abrogation of Article 370 and the conversion of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory. “I want to ask those leaders what happened during the years you were in power? Why did you ally with those who later removed our special status?” he questioned.
Concluding his speech, the Dy CM reaffirmed the National Conference’s commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We are still fighting to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and its special status,” he said.(KNS)
