Gulmarg, May 29: The tourism industry in Kashmir is gradually recovering after being severely impacted by the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, followed by heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
However, there is no cause for concern. Tourists returning to the valley have dismissed rumors and confirmed that Kashmir remains a safe and breathtaking destination.
A group of visitors from different parts of India, currently enjoying their stay in Gulmarg, shared their experiences “It’s very safe and peaceful here. We feel happy, secure, and completely comfortable.
They emphasized that security personnel are deployed across the region to ensure tourists’ safety, making their visit smooth and worry-free. The travelers also encouraged fellow Indians to visit Kashmir, assuring them of its safety and hospitality.
Akshay Tripathi, a tourist from Bangalore, told Kashmir Despatch that there was so much fear-mongering, with people claiming the situation was unstable. But after arriving here, I found it incredibly peaceful. The tourist influx is slowly increasing, which is exactly what Kashmir needs right now.
He added, “This is our Kashmir, an integral part of India—why should we be afraid to visit? The government is providing all necessary facilities to ensure a safe and secure travel experience.”
Another traveler, Aliva Tripathi from South India, said, “Kashmir is completely safe to visit. Only those who wish to disrupt peace in the country spread false narratives.”

She said, This is the perfect time to visit Kashmir and enjoy its beauty. Initially, we considered canceling our trip, but our friends in the army encouraged us to come. Now that we’re here, we feel completely safe and at ease.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is leading a proactive campaign to revive tourism in the valley after last month’s terror attack.
In a significant move, Abdullah convened a meeting with his council of ministers and administrative officials at a scenic resort in Baramulla to dispel fears and reassure travelers. This followed a similar meeting in Pahalgam, signaling the government’s commitment to reviving the tourism sector.
The Chief Minister’s initiatives have renewed hope among stakeholders, raising expectations for a strong recovery after this year’s tourist season was disrupted by security concerns.
