In a remarkable initiative aimed at enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency, Union Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, laid the foundation stone for the modernization of Karpurigram Station in an event filled with optimism. The ceremony, attended by esteemed guests including Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ram Nath Thakur, marks a significant step forward for railway infrastructure in the region.

During his visit to Bihar, Minister Vaishnav not only inaugurated new projects but also conducted thorough inspections across key stations, ensuring that passenger amenities are at the forefront of the railway’s operational strategies. Notable improvements include an extensive upgrade to Karpurigram Station at a cost of Rs. 3.30 crore, featuring remodeling and state-of-the-art facilities for travelers.

One highlight is the planned construction of an 18-foot wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) and a substantial subway at the western end of the station, with an investment of Rs. 14 crore. This subway will enhance safety and connectivity, significantly benefiting nearby villages and boosting social and economic interactions across both sides of the railway line.
During his inspections, Minister Vaishnav noted a remarkable increase in rail freight traffic, rising from 20% to an impressive 29%, with future targets set even higher. He emphasized the importance of timely completion of ongoing projects and announced exciting new trains and railway projects to further strengthen Bihar’s transport infrastructure.

Among the anticipated additions are four new Amrit Bharat trains to provide enhanced connectivity, including daily services between Patna and New Delhi. Furthermore, ongoing projects like the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur third line and various doubling projects are expected to further improve the efficiency of the railway network.
Minister Vaishnav underscored the government’s commitment to railway development in Bihar, citing a tenfold increase in the budget for railway projects over the past 11 years to over Rs. 10,000 crores. He reiterated the government’s dedication to quality work, the introduction of cutting-edge technology, and the ongoing expansion of electronic systems within the East Central Railway zone.
In addition to railway improvements, significant investment in technology parks was highlighted, promising a bright future for innovation and job creation in Bihar.
