Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir, July 22 – In a remarkable gesture of community outreach, the Indian Army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) organised a comprehensive medical camp at Tilgam Pattan village in the Baramulla district on Tuesday . The initiative aimed to extend quality healthcare services to the local population, with a special focus on underprivileged residents in the region.
The camp witnessed a massive turnout, with over 586 people receiving expert consultations and free treatment. Medical specialists in General Medicine and Gynaecology were present at the venue, offering crucial diagnostic and therapeutic services to villagers, many of whom lack easy access to regular healthcare facilities.
In addition to general check-ups, patients were also counselled on preventive healthcare practices, maternal and child health, and lifestyle management. Free medicines were distributed, and serious cases were advised follow-up treatment in nearby hospitals.
Local residents expressed deep gratitude to the Indian Army for their continued support and humanitarian efforts. “We are thankful to the Army for thinking about our well-being and bringing healthcare to our doorstep,” said Firdous Ahmad, a resident of Tilgam.
The event is part of the Army’s ongoing “Operation Sadbhavna”, aimed at winning hearts and minds in the Kashmir Valley by building trust and supporting local development.
An officer from 29 RR remarked, “This initiative strengthens the bond between the Indian Army and the local community. We remain committed to ensuring the welfare and upliftment of our people.”
Such initiatives not only address pressing local needs but also build bridges of trust and mutual respect between the armed forces and the civilian population in Jammu and Kashmir.
