Srinagar, July 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Tuesday that the Narendra Modi government has rebuilt Jammu and Kashmir, ending an era of terrorism and violence while giving wings to development by rolling out massive infrastructure and welfare schemes.

Home Minister Amit Shah spoke in Parliament, stating, as per Kashmir Despatch, that incidents of stone-pelting and organized hartals in Kashmir under PM Modi are no more. Gone are the days of turmoil; now it is a time of peace, prosperity, development, and progress.

He noted that Prime Minister Modi transformed Jammu and Kashmir by awakening a new hope among youngsters, securing their dreams, and giving new flight to their aspirations by strengthening educational and skilling facilities.

During a special discussion in the Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor, Home Minister Amit Shah said that during Operation Mahadev on Monday, the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police neutralized three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack.

He mentioned that three rifles, which were used in the Pahalgam terror attack, were seized from the terrorists. Mr. Shah informed the House that the three terrorists—Suleiman Shah, Jibran, and Hamza Afghani—were successfully eliminated. He highlighted that Suleiman was an ‘A’ category terrorist who was deeply involved in both the Pahalgam and Gagangir terror attacks, adding that intelligence agencies have substantial evidence of his role.

Mr. Shah stated that innocent tourists were brutally killed in front of their family members during the Pahalgam terror attack. He remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi acted with unwavering resolve in response and authorized Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that security forces were instructed not to allow the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack to leave the country.

He praised the country’s armed forces, stating they eliminated the terrorists and dismantled their camps with surgical precision.

The Home Minister explained that, as part of the investigation, the team engaged with family members of the victims, tourists, pony operators, photographers, and local residents. He stated that over one thousand individuals were questioned, and based on the inputs gathered, composite sketches were prepared. He reported that subsequently, on June 22, two individuals—Bashir and Parvez—were identified as those who had harbored the terrorists.

The Home Minister emphasized that the country’s security forces not only eliminated the terrorists but also targeted those who sent them. He noted that the day Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed responsibility for the attack, the government entrusted the mission of delivering justice to the country’s armed forces. He highlighted that Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 and carried out between 1:04 AM and 1:24 AM and that nine terror sites in Pakistan were destroyed during this operation, resulting in the neutralization of more than 100 terrorists. Mr. Shah stated that no Pakistani civilians were killed in this attack, as the targets were located 100 kilometers inside Pakistan. He stressed that the Narendra Modi government maintains a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.

Mr. Shah criticized former Home Minister P. Chidambaram for seeking proof that the terrorists were from Pakistan, suggesting he was giving a clean chit to Pakistan. He asserted that Operation Sindoor has unmasked Pakistan before the entire world. He condemned the Opposition for politicizing the situation, stating that Pakistan had no option but to surrender as its striking capabilities were destroyed during Operation Sindoor.

He added that Pakistan’s DGMO contacted India’s DGMO on May 10, leading to the announcement of a ceasefire. He emphasized that war has several consequences and that all factors must be taken into account.

“Today, terrorists are being sent from across the border because there are no local terrorists left in Kashmir,” Shah said, crediting the Centre’s policies for what he described as a significant change in the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
