In an inspiring gathering, Girls’ Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Nagam, successfully hosted a mass Parent-Teacher Meeting today, bringing together parents, peer groups, students, educators, civil society members, and administrative officials in a unified effort to shape the future of students in the Nagam cluster of Budgam district.
Over 600 parents and civil society representatives attended this first-of-its-kind mass meeting in the region. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin, Deputy Commissioner of Budgam district, who commended the school management and Principal Tahir-ul-Hamid for organizing such a meaningful and large-scale event. Dr. Primrose Bashir, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Chadoora, was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Shagufta, Professor of Ophthalmology at GMC Srinagar, was a special invitee, and her participation underscored the importance of empowering girls and young women in every field. Senior administrative and education department officials, including the Tehsildar of Chadoora and the Deputy Chief Education Officer, were also in attendance.
In his welcome address, GHSS Nagam Principal Mr. Tahir-ul-Hamid emphasized the crucial role of collaboration between parents and teachers, describing them as co-educators in students’ development. “Today’s meeting is not just a ritual; it is a living forum of trust and partnership,” said Principal Hamid.
Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin, the Chief Guest, praised the efforts of the school management and Principal Tahir-ul-Hamid, acknowledging their leadership and foresight in organizing the event. He applauded the parents for their overwhelming participation, stating, “This mass-scale parent-teacher interaction at GHSS Nagam aligns with the Government of India’s National Education Policy, which emphasizes continuous engagement between schools and all stakeholders, including students, parents, and peer groups.”
Recognizing the school’s commitment to quality education and community partnership, the Deputy Commissioner sanctioned Smart Classroom Boards for GHSS Nagam. He also directed logistical support for students to visit the ongoing Chinar Book Festival at SKICC, Srinagar.
The event featured a live interaction session moderated by Dr. Shahnawaz, a senior faculty member. Parents and students raised pertinent questions and suggestions, which were addressed by the school management. The meeting reinforced the school’s mission of holistic development, ensuring students receive not only academic knowledge but also moral and emotional guidance to prepare them for future challenges.
