New Delhi, Aug 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid rich tributes to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his seventh death anniversary, recalling his vision and dedication towards a developed and self-reliant India.
In a post on X, Modi said, “Remembering Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi. His dedication and spirit of service towards the all-round progress of India continue to inspire everyone in building a developed and self-reliant India.”
Later in the day, President Droupadi Murmu, Union ministers, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and several other dignitaries joined the prime minister in paying homage at Vajpayee’s memorial ‘Sadaiv Atal’ in New Delhi.
A poet, orator and statesman, Vajpayee served as India’s prime minister for over six years between 1998 and 2004. He is remembered for his leadership, foreign policy initiatives and key economic reforms that laid the foundation for a phase of high growth in the country.
