Srinagar, Sept 17: Humhama Ward-33 today organised a special cleanliness drive as part of the Sewa Parav Celebration, a nationwide citizen-centric initiative being observed from September 17 to October 2. The campaign aims to raise mass awareness about the significance of cleanliness and hygiene in both public and private spaces.
The programme was spearheaded by Ward Officer Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, with officers, officials, and sanitation staff of Ward-33 actively participating. The team cleaned Airport Road, adjoining areas, and other public-facing locations. The initiative sought not only to improve the physical environment but also to promote the spirit of collective responsibility within the community.
Local residents and community members welcomed the drive, noting that such efforts encourage civic responsibility, volunteerism, and pride in maintaining clean surroundings. They also lauded the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for leading by example and strengthening public partnership through direct involvement.
Speaking on the occasion, Ward Officer Bhat emphasized that cleanliness is fundamental to healthy living and community development. He urged for sustained cooperation between the SMC and citizens to achieve the long-term goals of a safe, clean, and progressive society.
Sanitary Inspector Shabbir Ahmed also participated in the drive under the Sewa Parav initiative. The SMC assured that more such community outreach activities will be organized in the future, with a focus on building stronger civic engagement and promoting a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for all.
