Awantipora, Sept. 17: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) today organized a one-day training and capacity-building workshop on Earthquake Risk Mitigation and Management. The program was jointly conducted by the Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR), Department of Civil Engineering, and Department of Architecture, IUST, in collaboration with the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR), Government of J&K.
The workshop featured an expert session by Er. Wajahat Dedmari, President of DW Engineering Inc., California, USA, who shared insights on earthquake-resistant design and strategies for risk reduction. The event was attended by the Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SoET), along with faculty and students from Civil Engineering and Architecture. Participants engaged in interactive discussions on preparedness, resilient infrastructure, and community safety measures, with a focus on building a disaster-resilient future for the region.
