Department of Islamic Studies and Library Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal organized “Meet the Author” event under the Sewa Prav programme on 30th September 2025. In this event, Dr Tauseef Ahmad Parray, an accomplished author and Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies, interacted with faculty and students and shared valuable insights on how to become a writer and how to develop reading and writing habits. He encouraged students to recognize their potential of writing and explore different styles and genres to find their unique voice. The author also highlighted the significance of persistence and dedication in achieving writing goals and also provided personalized guidance and tips on writing, publishing and overcoming challenges.
“Develop a writing habit, read extensively, be persistent, and don’t let rejections or criticism discourage you: keep working towards your writing goals”, he emphasized.
The session ended with students actively participating in Q&A session, asking about Dr Parray’s writing process and experiences. The event was moderated by Dr. Sameera Siraj (HOD, Zoology) and Mrs. Masarat Jan (Chief Librarian) introduced the speaker before the audiences. A formal vote of thanks was proposed by Mansoor Ahmad (Assistant Professor, Water Management).
The event was attended by hundreds of students, who benefitted from Dr. Parray’s expertise and insights on writing.
