MAHARASHTRA, Oct 2: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday lauded the Indian Army’s swift and courageous response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, describing it as a testament to the nation’s military strength and resilience.
Speaking at the RSS centenary programme in Nagpur, Bhagwat recalled the tragic incident earlier this year when terrorists infiltrated and targeted civilians in Pahalgam. “It was a barbaric attack. Our citizens were killed, and the entire nation was filled with grief and anger. People demanded justice and punishment for those responsible. Action was indeed taken,” he said.
He emphasized that the counter-response not only displayed the bravery and preparedness of the Indian Army but also highlighted the significant progress made in defence research and technology. “The capability and courage of our army shone once again, and the effectiveness of our defence research was clearly proven. Alongside, we also witnessed the firmness of the government and administration in dealing with such challenges,” Bhagwat noted.
The RSS chief also underlined the importance of unity among political parties during times of national crisis. “There was understanding and mutual cooperation among all political groups, setting aside ideological and electoral differences. If this spirit continues permanently and does not fade with time, it will be a great relief for the country,” he remarked.
Bhagwat stressed that moments of collective patriotism must serve as an example of true democracy. “Just as we stood together in the aftermath of the attack, setting aside differences and rivalries, this unity should remain constant in the future as well. That is what we all desire,” he added.
