Ganderbal 3rd Oct:In a decisive move against the menace of illegal mining, Ganderbal Police has successfully dismantled the nexus of unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals across the district based upon fake permission granted from District Pulwama.
During the intensified drive, Ganderbal Police registered 03 FIR’s, seized 09 tippers, 02 Tata Mobiles & 02 Tractorsare involved in illegal mining activities, and accordingly apprehended accused persons in various cases/matters for their direct involvement in the crime. These sustained actions were carried out across different police jurisdictions of the district to curb the illegal trade and to safeguard natural resources.
The seized vehicles, illegally loaded with minor minerals extracted from Nallah Sindh, Ganderbal, were intercepted within the jurisdiction of P/S Ganderbal, P/S Safapora P/S Gund and PP Nagbal. The registration numbers of the seized vehicles are mentioned below:
JK05B-9529, JK01AF-0052, JK01T-1471, JK13C-8090, JK01J-9411, JK01J-9411, JK09C-5028, JK15C-0729, JK18-1190, JK01AX-1953, PB5AX-7928, JK16B-9334, JK01R-3970.
Accordingly, Case FIR No.’s 155/2025 U/S 21 MMRD, 162/2025 U/S 21 MMRD & 163/2025 U/S 303, 318(4), 61 (2) BNS were registered at P/S Ganderbal and investigation was taken up.
Furthermore, it is observed that intentionally fake permissions have been granted from District Pulwama in favour of tipper operators of Ganderbal who lifted minor minerals from Ganderbal and intended to sell at Srinagar. Police have lifted the samples from seized vehicles alongwith samples from place actual extraction of minor minerals in presence of Magistrate and sent for Forensics Comparisons so that accused person cannot go scot-free by taking any alibi.
