Bangaluru: Pursuant to the vision of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi of a DRUG FREE INDIA (Nasha Mukt Bharat) and acting upon the directive of Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Narcotics Control Bureau has achieved significant success by effecting a seizure of 45.4 kg of Hydro Ganja and 6 kg of Psilocybin mushrooms worth Crores.
On 09.10.2025 Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Bengaluru Zonal Unit developed intelligence on drug cartel operating between Thailand, Sri Lanka and India, which led to identification of two persons who arrived from Thailand to Bengaluru via Colombo. Preliminary investigations with apprehended persons revealed that the handler a Sri Lankan is travelling separately in subsequent flight. Further, swift action by the NCB Bengaluru officials led to identification and interception of the Sri Lankan handler who arrived in subsequent flight. Two Indians and one Sri Lankan national who were in possession of the seized drug were apprehended. The seized drugs were concealed in around 250 food tins which were vacuum sealed. The seized drug was destined to Tamil Nadu. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of this syndicate.
During the year NCB Bengaluru has seized 220 Kgs. of Hydro Ganja worth hundreds of crores, registered 18 cases and apprehended 45 persons. These persons are from different states of Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and one Sri Lankan national. Further, these traffickers use various routes & different modus operandi to smuggle drug to India via Middle East, Sri Lankan & Nepal. The drug packets is concealed in middle of nuts packet further coated the out layer of nuts with liquid chocolate and they also conceal drugs in food tins and make it vacuum sealed, making it very difficult to detect by enforcement agencies. Hydro Ganja is being emerged as popular drug and users preferred it as a beloved drug due to its high effect.
This seizure exemplifies the NCB’s commitment to successfully disrupt trans-national and interstate drug networks to achieve the vision of DRUG FREE INDIA.
