Handwara, Oct 19: A 55-year-old man from Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, who was critically injured in a road accident on Saturday evening, succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar on Sunday morning.
Reports said that the accident took place around 6 pm yesterday at Tulwari area of Langate when a tipper hit a pedestrian, leaving him grievously injured. The injured man was initially taken to GMC Handwara for treatment and later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar in critical condition.
The deceased has been identified as Ali Mohammad Khan, son of Late Abdul Samad Khan, a resident of Langate Tulwari. Hospital sources confirmed that despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and a case has been registered at Police Station Langate. A police official said that the vehicle involved in the accident has been traced and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the mishap. [KNT]
