In a spirited display of unity, talent, and patriotic fervour, the Chinar Corps’s Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) successfully organised the inaugural General Bipin Rawat Memorial Football Premier League – 2025, honouring the legacy of India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, who remains an enduring symbol of leadership, courage, and national pride.
The league was conceived as a tribute to General Rawat’s vision of youth empowerment and national integration through sports. It aimed to nurture discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the youth of Kashmir, offering them a platform to channel their energy towards constructive and inspiring pursuits.
The tournament featured four top-tier football teams representing Kupwara, Baramulla, Sharifabad, and Awantipora, each demonstrating remarkable athleticism, coordination, and tactical prowess. Over several thrilling matches, the competition drew attention from football enthusiasts and locals alike, showcasing the Valley’s rich reservoir of young sporting talent.
The grand finale, held on Friday, November 7, at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Bandipora, was a spectacle of excitement and emotion. The contest between BISMA FC and DAR FC captivated a spirited audience of over 500 spectators, who filled the stands with thunderous cheers, transforming the venue into a vibrant arena of celebration.
After an intense and skillful battle on the field, BISMA FC clinched the championship title, defeating DAR FC in a gripping finale that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats till the last whistle. The winning team’s disciplined play and strategic brilliance earned them loud applause, as players from both sides displayed commendable sportsmanship and mutual respect.
The tournament not only highlighted the growing popularity of football in north Kashmir but also reaffirmed Bandipora’s reputation as the cradle of sports in the Valley, where youth continue to embrace athletics as a means of personal growth and community unity.
Speaking on the occasion, officials from the Chinar Corps underscored the significance of sports in promoting peace and harmony, saying that initiatives like the General Bipin Rawat Memorial Football Premier League strengthen the bond of goodwill, trust, and cooperation between the Indian Army and the local populace.
