BANDIPORA, Nov 18:
The Jammu & Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation Ltd., Bandipora, in collaboration with the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), New Delhi, on Friday organised a day-long awareness camp aimed at promoting self-employment schemes among marginalised groups. The programme witnessed an overwhelming response, with a large turnout from various communities, particularly individuals belonging to Backward Classes.
The primary objective of the camp was to familiarise participants with the Corporation’s ongoing initiatives and low-interest loan schemes designed to support income generation and entrepreneurship among weaker sections of society.
District Manager Bandipora, Nazir Ahmed Rather, while addressing the gathering, underscored the significance of the Corporation’s loan schemes tailored specifically for marginalised groups. He briefed participants about various low-interest financial assistance programmes available for setting up income-generating units. Rather reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to empowering individuals through access to affordable credit and capacity-building support.
He urged attendees to not only avail themselves of the schemes but also help disseminate information within their communities to ensure wider public outreach and greater impact.
Principal ITI Bandipora, Sahil Rashid Bhat, shared insights on the functioning of the Corporation’s schemes, stressing their role in enabling youth to establish sustainable livelihood ventures. He laid special emphasis on the education loan scheme intended to support students from backward classes in pursuing technical and professional studies.
Prominent officials from the Employment Department, including Abdullah Paswal (District President), Masood Ahmed, and Showkat Ahmed, also spoke on the occasion. They encouraged participants to take maximum advantage of the welfare programmes and help promote awareness at the grassroots level so that more households benefit from government-backed financial assistance.
During the event, Corporation representatives distributed brochures and handbills detailing scheme guidelines, eligibility criteria and application procedures.
Concluding the programme, District Manager Nazir Ahmed Rather delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to participants for their cooperation and active involvement in the awareness drive.
