New Delhi, Nov 27:
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), India’s leading university in the transportation and logistics sector under the Ministry of Railways, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the French aerospace group Safran to prepare industry-ready professionals for the aviation and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector. Under the MoU, GSV has integrated specialised Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion (LEAP) engine courses into its Aviation Engineering programme, providing students with hands-on exposure to cutting-edge aeroengine technologies.
This collaboration will enable Safran a steady pipeline of qualified talent equipped to handle the complexities of modern aeroengine maintenance, supporting both immediate operational needs and long-term sector growth. The MOU was signed by Prof. Manoj Choudhary (Vice-Chancellor, GSV) and Mr. Philippe Errera (EVP, International Development, Safran Group).
India’s aviation sector marked a major milestone with the inauguration of the Safran LEAP Aeroengine MRO facility in Hyderabad by Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi in virtual mode today. Developed by French aerospace major Safran, the state-of-the-art SAESI centre will significantly boost India’s engine maintenance capabilities and support the expanding fleet of LEAP engines used in Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The facility represents a substantial step toward strengthening Aatmanirbharta in the aviation sector.
GSV was established as a Central University by the Act of Parliament in 2022. Working under the Ministry of Railways, the University covers the entire transportation sector including Railways, Highways, Ports, Aviation, Maritime, Shipping, Inland Waterways, Urban Transport and complete Logistics and supply chain networks. The university is headed by Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw as the University Chancellor.
