PULWAMA, Nov 27:
The Jammu & Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation Ltd. on Wednesday organised a large-scale Awareness Camp at Manchama, Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The programme was held in collaboration with the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), New Delhi, and drew an impressive turnout from different communities, particularly members of the national minority groups.
The camp was aimed at educating people about the various self-employment and welfare schemes offered by the Corporation, with a strong focus on initiatives tailored for marginalised and minority communities. Officials emphasised that these schemes are designed to provide financial support and economic opportunities to individuals seeking to establish income-generating ventures.
During the event, Corporation officials detailed a range of low-interest loan schemes meant to encourage livelihood creation, along with education loan schemes intended to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. They explained that the Corporation’s initiatives are geared towards helping families break economic barriers and build sustainable livelihoods.
Reaffirming the Corporation’s commitment to empowerment and inclusive development, the Deputy General Manager urged local residents to make full use of the available schemes. He encouraged attendees not only to apply for benefits but also to spread awareness within their communities so that more people could be reached.
Local village heads expressed satisfaction over the impact of the programme, noting that such outreach efforts play a crucial role in informing people about government-supported financial assistance and employment avenues.
District Manager Pulwama, Mr. Mohammad Maqbool Ganie, Mr. Babar Bashir Wani (A.O), and other Corporation officials were present during the session. The Corporation also reiterated its resolve to continue conducting similar awareness drives across the district to ensure broader coverage and access to information.
Information brochures and handbills detailing various schemes were distributed among the participants on the spot, enabling them to understand eligibility, application procedures and benefits.
The camp concluded with renewed enthusiasm among locals, many of whom described the initiative as a vital step toward economic upliftment and social inclusion in the region.
