Srinagar, Dec 11: Sopore Police on Thursday carried out coordinated searches at several locations as part of the ongoing investigation into a Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) case registered against members of the banned organisation Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.
In a statement, Sopore police said that the action was taken in connection with FIR No. 10/2024 registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA. Police teams, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate and armed with search warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge UAPA, Sopore, searched the residences and premises of three individuals.
Those whose premises were searched include Zaffar Islam @ Yadullah Peer, son of Abdul Rasheed Peer, resident of Dangerpora, Lateef Ahmad Kaloo, son of Ghulam Nabi Kaloo, resident of Hanfia Colony, Arampora Sopore and Mohammad Ashraf Malik, son of Mohammad Abdullah Malik, resident of Tawheed Bagh Sopore.
During the operation, police examined relevant materials and electronic devices. Officials said further legal procedures are being undertaken as the investigation progresses.
Sopore Police reiterated their commitment to taking firm action against individuals linked with banned organisations and to dismantling networks involved in activities aimed at disturbing peace and stability in the region.
