KREERI–BARAMULLA, Dec 11: In a significant move to strengthen winter preparedness in north Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, along with MLA Wagoora–Kreeri Irfan Hafiz Lone, on Wednesday inaugurated the Snow Clearance Control Room at Kreeri.
The newly established control room is expected to play a pivotal role in coordinating snow clearance operations during the harsh winter months, ensuring timely response and uninterrupted public services. Officials said the facility has been equipped to monitor snowfall situations closely, facilitate communication with field teams, and deploy machinery swiftly across critical routes.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla emphasised the administration’s commitment to improving winter preparedness and ensuring minimal disruptions to daily life. He said the control room would function as a centralised hub for all snow-related operations, helping authorities respond more efficiently during heavy spells of snowfall.
MLA Wagoora–Kreeri Irfan Hafiz Lone, who accompanied the Deputy Commissioner, lauded the initiative and said that strengthening infrastructure at the local level was essential for safeguarding public convenience during winters. He noted that the people of Kreeri had long felt the need for such a facility—especially given the region’s vulnerability to frequent snowfall.
Residents of Kreeri expressed heartfelt gratitude to the district administration and the MLA for establishing the control room. Many said the new setup would significantly ease their winter hardships by ensuring quicker road clearance and better coordination between authorities and field workers.
With the inauguration of the Snow Clearance Control Room, the district administration aims to ensure that essential services, mobility, and emergency response systems remain functional throughout the winter season, providing much-needed relief to the local population.
