Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw informed to the Lok Sabha that Indian Railways has developed a comprehensive training ecosystem that is primarily designed for its own employees, offering structured training interventions at various stages of their career for effective skilling, re-skilling, and up-skilling. The Union Railway Minister stated that to support this, Indian Railways has established an extensive network of training centres across all Zonal Railways and Production Units. Within a Zone also, these training centres are spread out across different locations of Divisions or Workshops.
Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that at the same time, with the aim of enhancing employability and promoting entrepreneurship among the youth, the Railways launched the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, a pan-India entry-level skill development programme covering 16 technical trades. The scheme was launched in September 2021, with an objective to empower trained candidates to pursue wage employment or self-employment.
While replying to a question in the Parliament Shri Vaishnaw informed that the training under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana is provided free of cost to the Trainees, at 98 training centres of Zonal Railways & Production Units, spread across the country. The candidates from any part of the country can join this training. 14 of these training centres are located in Uttar Pradesh as per the following details:

The Minister stated that since inception, 31,839 youths from all across the country have been provided short-term technical skill training at designated Railway Training Centres under scheme Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana. 5862 of these belong to Uttar Pradesh, out of which 64 are from Saharanpur district.
