New Delhi, April 4:- In a major crackdown on counterfeit consumer goods, the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has busted a large-scale fake toothpaste manufacturing unit operating in the Khanjawala area of outer Delhi. The operation led to the arrest of the factory owner, Hari Om Mishra.
Officials said the illegal unit was producing counterfeit versions of the popular toothpaste brand Sensodyne, posing serious health risks to unsuspecting consumers.
During the raid, police recovered thousands of fake toothpaste tubes, raw chemical paste, packaging materials, labels, and manufacturing machinery used to replicate the branded product. Authorities believe the operation had been running for some time and distributing fake products in local markets.
A senior Crime Branch official stated that the seizure has prevented potential health hazards, as the counterfeit products were manufactured without any safety standards or quality checks.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of cheating, trademark violation, and public safety laws. Further investigation is underway to identify the supply chain network and possible market links of the counterfeit products.
Authorities have also urged consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing daily-use items and to check product authenticity to avoid falling victim to such fraud.
