NEW DELHI, April 5: The Hon’ble Minister of Railways on Friday carried out a detailed inspection of newly developed sample coaches featuring upgraded interiors and advanced design concepts for the next-generation Amrit Bharat Express at New Delhi Railway Station.
The inspection underscores a major step forward in Indian Railways’ sustained efforts to modernise its passenger services by enhancing comfort, safety, and overall onboard experience. The newly designed sample coaches reflect a comprehensive approach aimed at transforming travel standards, particularly for long-distance passengers.
Focus on Aesthetics and Passenger Comfort
The upgraded coaches have been thoughtfully designed with distinct and coordinated interior colour themes, giving them a modern and refined appearance. Railway officials stated that special attention has been paid to ensuring uniformity across all interior elements, including PVC flooring, seat and berth rexine, snack tables, curtains, and lavatory spaces.
The integration of coordinated colour palettes across these components creates a visually appealing and harmonious environment for passengers. Beyond aesthetics, the choice of materials and finishes has been made keeping in mind durability, ease of maintenance, and long-term usability in high-traffic conditions.
The improved interiors are expected to significantly elevate passenger comfort by providing a cleaner, more organised, and visually pleasant travel environment.
High Safety Standards Maintained
Safety remains a central focus of the new design initiative. All materials used in the coaches comply with HL3 fire safety standards, which are among the most stringent in railway systems. This ensures that while passengers benefit from improved aesthetics and comfort, their safety is not compromised.
Officials highlighted that the use of fire-resistant materials and advanced fittings will enhance overall onboard safety, particularly during long-distance travel.
Modernisation Drive Gains Momentum
The introduction of next-generation Amrit Bharat coaches is part of a broader strategy by Indian Railways to upgrade its rolling stock and improve service quality across all segments. Unlike premium trains that cater to limited categories, these coaches are designed to bring enhanced travel standards to a wider section of passengers.
The initiative reflects a shift towards providing a balanced combination of affordability and improved travel experience, making quality rail journeys more accessible.
Towards a World-Class Travel Experience
Railway authorities reiterated that the upgradation of coach interiors is an ongoing effort, with continuous improvements planned based on passenger feedback and operational requirements. The focus remains on creating a travel environment that is comfortable, safe, and comparable to global benchmarks.
With such initiatives gaining pace, Indian Railways aims to redefine passenger expectations and deliver a more modern, efficient, and pleasant rail travel experience across its extensive network.
