Mayan, Bijhama: In a swift and courageous humanitarian response, Indian Army personnel rescued elderly villagers, including women, who were stranded on the Tekpathri Ridge in Mayan village following a cloudburst and flash floods.
The sudden cloudburst led to a sharp rise in water levels and created difficult conditions in the area, leaving several villagers stranded and cut off. Responding to the situation, Indian Army personnel reached the affected location and carried out a rescue operation despite the challenging terrain and strong flow of floodwater.
The rescued villagers included elderly residents and women. One of the villagers was reportedly using a prosthetic leg and had an amputated hand, making the rescue operation even more challenging.
Army personnel carefully assisted the stranded villagers across the dangerous stretch using ropes and a temporary crossing arrangement. The rescued residents were brought to safety and were also provided food and snacks by the Army personnel.
