Srinagar, July 30: Jammu and Kashmir Bank Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee has said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing the benefits of sustained peace, with economic activity reviving across sectors and investor confidence returning to the Union Territory.
Speaking in an interview, Chatterjee said the improving security situation has helped restore business confidence, leading to renewed growth in tourism, agriculture, trade and entrepreneurship. He said the local economy is gradually returning to normal and the bank is committed to supporting this recovery through increased lending and financial inclusion.
The CEO said J&K Bank recorded its highest-ever annual net profit of ₹2,363 crore in the financial year 2025-26 despite challenges faced by the region, attributing the performance to prudent financial management, expansion of business outside the Union Territory and stronger support to the agriculture sector.
Chatterjee also highlighted government initiatives such as the Mission YUVA scheme, saying they are encouraging young entrepreneurs to establish businesses and generate employment. He expressed confidence that with improving economic conditions and sustained investment, Jammu and Kashmir is well-positioned for long-term growth.
He said the bank plans to further strengthen digital banking services, expand credit to productive sectors and continue supporting the region’s economic transformation.
