Srinagar, Aug 11: The Cultural Unit and Field Publicity Unit of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) organised ‘Jashn-e-Azadi’ programmes at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Kothi Bagh and GGHSS Zadibal as part of the celebrations marking the 80th Independence Day.
At GGHSS Kothi Bagh, students participated in a patriotic singing competition and presented solo and group performances, showcasing their talent and expressing patriotic sentiments.
The programme was presided over by Deputy Director Information Zubair Ahmed Lattoo. Cultural Officer Abdul Raqib Bhat, Field Publicity Officer Shabir Ahmad, Assistant Exhibition and Cultural Officer Syed Shakeel Shan, Principal GGHSS Kothi Bagh Dr Sameena Wani, teachers and students were present.
The performances were accompanied by musicians Imtiyaz Malik, Nayeem Naqash and Wahid Ali.
A similar programme was organised at GGHSS Zadibal, where students enthusiastically participated in patriotic singing and presented solo and group performances.
Speaking on the occasion, DIPR officers highlighted the role of cultural activities in promoting patriotism, unity, harmony and national pride among the younger generation.
Principal Dr Sameena Wani appreciated DIPR for organising the programme and said such initiatives provide students with a platform to showcase their talent while fostering a sense of patriotism and national belonging.
Students, judges, musicians and the principal were felicitated for their participation and contribution to the successful conduct of the programmes.
The events concluded on a patriotic note, with participants reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of the nation and the spirit of Independence Day celebrations.
