New Delhi: The search and rescue operation for missing crew members of merchant vessel MV Ocean Winner was intensified on Monday with additional Coast Guard assets, aircraft and merchant vessels being deployed in coordination with MRCC Beijing.
The Indian Coast Guard vessel ICGS Varad, along with merchant vessels operating in the area, is conducting an extensive search for the missing crew members.
During an aerial search, a naval aircraft detected a distress transmission and guided ICGS Varad towards the reported location. The Coast Guard vessel subsequently recovered an emergency beacon from the area, which was verified to be associated with MV Ocean Win
At around 7 am on August 25, ICGS Varad located a lifeboat belonging to the vessel in the search area. A boarding team inspected the lifeboat but found no survivors.
The Coast Guard said additional assets were being deployed to strengthen the operation, while aircraft, Coast Guard vessels and merchant ships continue to maintain an extensive search of the area.
The search for the remaining missing crew members is continuing.
