Jammu, Aug 31: Senior IPS officer Tejinder Singh on Monday assumed charge as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, succeeding Bhim Sen Tuti.
A farewell-cum-welcome function was organised at the Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ), Jammu, to formally bid farewell to Tuti and welcome Singh as his successor.
During the function, officers and personnel of the Jammu Zone expressed their appreciation for Tuti’s leadership and contributions during his tenure as IGP Jammu Zone.
Addressing the gathering, Tuti thanked officers and police personnel for their cooperation, support and dedication during his tenure. He was also wished success in his new assignment.
Tuti has been transferred and posted as IGP Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir, against an available vacancy, as part of a major reshuffle of senior police officers ordered by the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
Singh, a 2008-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer, was serving as IGP CID, J&K, before being transferred and posted as IGP Jammu Zone in place of Tuti.
The reshuffle also saw Sujit Kumar, a 2007-batch IPS officer who was serving as IGP Security, J&K, appointed IGP Kashmir Zone. Vivek Gupta was posted as IGP Security, while several other senior officers were assigned new responsibilities.
With Singh assuming charge, the Jammu Zone will now come under his leadership amid the broader restructuring of the senior police hierarchy in the Union Territory.
