Srinagar, Sept 7: A 13-member media delegation from Kerala has begun a seven-day press tour of Jammu and Kashmir to gain first-hand information about development initiatives, infrastructure projects and achievements in the Union Territory.
The tour, being organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Kochi, will continue from September 6 to 12 and is aimed at providing participating journalists an opportunity to visit key locations and interact with stakeholders involved in various development initiatives.
On the first day of the tour, the delegation visited the PIB office in Srinagar, where Quazi Salman, Director, PIB Srinagar, welcomed the visiting journalists and briefed them about the media and communication landscape in Kashmir.
Salman also interacted with members of the delegation and shared information about the functioning of the PIB in the region.
Later, the journalists travelled to Gulmarg in Baramulla district, where they explored the hill station and witnessed its natural landscape and scenic surroundings.
During the remaining days of the tour, the delegation is scheduled to visit various developmental projects and important locations across Jammu and Kashmir.
The visit is intended to familiarise journalists from Kerala with the developmental changes taking place in different parts of the Union Territory and facilitate direct interaction with officials and other stakeholders.
The press tour is part of PIB’s efforts to facilitate greater awareness and informed media coverage of major development initiatives being undertaken across different regions of the country.
