JAMMU: In a significant development for the judiciary in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal for the appointment of nine advocates as judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
According to the statement issued on October 29, 2026, the advocates recommended for appointment are Vishal Sharma, Vikram Kumar Sharma, Namgyal Wangchuk, Pawan Kumar Kundal, Tahir Majid Shamsi, Tabasum Zafar, Amit Gupta, Pranav Kohli and Anupam Raina.
The Collegium’s decision marks an important step in the process of appointing the recommended advocates to the High Court.
The appointments will proceed through the applicable formal process. The Collegium’s approval does not, by itself, mean that the advocates have formally assumed office as judges.
