A local court in Bandipora has granted judicial remand till July 29 of chief of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi (ITeA) Abdul Samad Malla alias Inquilabi Under Unlawful Activities (prevention) Act registered in police station Hajin last year.
However, the prosecution had sought 13 days judicial remand of Inquilabi, who was re-arrested immediately by police after his release from Kotbalwal, Jammu, jail on July 19 after his earlier Public Safety Act (PSA) was quashed by the High Court.
The family members alleged that Inquilabi was not released despite court orders and was taken to police station Hajin where he was booked in another case.
He was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate, Ist class Hajin on Friday by police seeking his 13 days judicial remand. However, court after hearing arguments from both sides granted his four days judicial remand.
ITeA chief was arrested by police in December last year in Pulwama after he was evading arrest for about a month.
Inquilabi has filed a case in a court in Bandipora district seeking Rs 10 crore compensation for his repeated arrest for the past 25 years.(UNI)
