Imran thanks Turkish President for support on Kashmir

Date:

New York, Sep 25 : After receiving support from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the Kashmir issue, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday expressed his gratitude to him.

According to a report in the Pakistani media, Imran was hopeful that other leaders of the world will at least talk to India to revoke the restrictions imposed in Kashmir. He was addressing a press conference in New York.

“We are very grateful that President (Erdogan) has followed a very principled attitude,” Imran said, adding that Pakistan has a strong relationship with Turkey.

Imran said that Erdogan will visit Islamabad next month.

Addressing a 193-member gathering at the UN on Tuesday Erdogon had said that dialogue is the only way to resolve the Kashmir issue which is waiting for a solution since 72 years.

He said: “For a safe future of Indian and Pakistani neighbours, it is necessary to solve this issue with a dialogue on the basis of justice and equality. Kashmir is still under siege even after proposals by the United Nations and eighty lakh people are trapped there”.

Erdogan had also meet Imran on Monday.
